Sympto-Thermal Method: Couple to Couple League
⛪👩🏾🤝👨🏽🌡
- Tell us a little about yourself.I’m a librarian at a catholic university in Ohio. I love history, hiking, cooking, sewing, and crafting. I enjoy walking and hiking and I’m an amateur birder. I studied art history in college before getting my masters in library science with a specialization in museum studies.
- What effects has fertility awareness had on your relationship? My husband and I learned the sympto-thermal method as part of our marriage preparation last year. I record on our chart daily but my husband has access to the chart to see where we’re at in the cycle and often checks in with me verbally. We usually apply the rules for determining phase 3 together so we’re on the same page. I feel that it has strengthened our relationship and I love my husband for his appreciation of my body’s natural cycles and abilities. I love that we can discern our call to parenthood each month together and that NFP opens that conversation.
- How did you find your instructor? We found our instructors through the CCL website, which was given as an option by our archdiocese to fulfill the NFP requirement of our marriage preparation. We paid about $150 for initial instruction. We reached out with follow up questions but never received a response from the instructors.
- Describe your daily charting routine.I have been charting for just over a year. I chart my temperature, mucus sensations, mucus characteristics, and cervix. I enjoy the ability to pay closer attention to my body and understand some of the natural functions that affect my emotions and my body.
- What made you choose this method? My husband and I chose this method because we appreciated that multiple bio markers are observed. It felt like a good method to start with in that we could learn how to observe each bio marker. Logistically, it was also the easiest for us to complete together as we were living in states and preparing for our marriage in the midst of the pandemic. The online synchronous class option worked very well for us.
