Sympto-Hormonal Method: Marquette
💍⛪📈

  • Tell us a little about yourself.
Cradle Catholic; Georgia Tech engineering grad; data visualization consultant; enjoy hiking, paddle boarding, reading
  • What effects has fertility awareness had on your relationship?
It’s been a little bit of an obstacle to convince him that it’s not going to be something I just do all the work for and just tell him when “it’s go time” in marriage. Our priest telling us that we BOTH have to attend an NFP class together for marriage prep I think made it click in his mind that it’s something we’ll do together. He was very positive about attending the class and been excited as I’ve been tracking….especially since it looks like the beginning of our honeymoon will be a “safe” time for TTA.
  • How did you find your instructor?
Found out my friend from the Catholic Center in college’s older sister was a new instructor and wanted to support her! We had an initial call with her and then follow up texts as we’ve had questions (have a year total of instruction paid for at the moment - not sure if we’ll “renew” for more)
  • Describe your daily charting routine.
Just do the Clear Blue Fertility monitor (no mucus tracking). On the days when I need to test, I pee in a cup first thing, dip the stick, put it in the machine, and then hop in the shower. When I get out of the shower, I take the stick out and record the result on my phone in a google doc.
  • What made you choose this method?
Wanted a method that was very objective and didn’t leave room for error or interpretation. Liked the science of tracking the hormones that fluctuations and the peace of mind I felt it would give on its effectiveness. Have had friends who have done both Marquette and Creighton so those were the only two I was really familiar with and I chose Marquette for the reasons above. Did consider Creighton because of the costs of Marquette but ultimately decided the peace of mind was worth the cost. So far (tracking during engagement) has been very easy.
  • Has charting helped you to understand your overall health?
Not yet but I’ve only been tracking for about 3 cycles.
