Sympto-Thermal Method: Couple to Couple League
👩🏾‍🤝‍👨🏽⛪👼🏻🌡💊

  • Tell us a little about yourself.
I'm an outgoing, social butterfly who enjoys coffee, wine, and being outdoors. We are a military family so flexibility in everything runs our life. I completed my undergrad in engineering and am 2 classes away from completing my Masters in engineering as well. I'm currently pregnant and due in October.
  • What effects has fertility awareness had on your relationship?
Fertility awareness is hard, plain and simple. We didn't trust it at first, and our periods of abstinence were really exaggerated which did test our communication skills especially when we were both traveling a lot as part of the military. It took us a while to get pregnant the first time, and after it ended in miscarriage, we really started to get serious about not only the family planning aspect of FAM, but also the health aspect. My cycle was telling me what I needed, I just had to listen. Now pregnant again and almost to the third trimester, I'm starting to look at different methods of FAM for post partum, and that can also be very overwhelming!
  • How did you find your instructor?
We found our instructor through the CCL website. I believe it was about $120 for the material and instruction.
  • Describe your daily charting routine.
I've been charting for 4 years. I track BBT, cervical mucus, cervical position. Charting has become such a part of my life that I've almost forgotten that I actually do it.
  • What made you choose this method?
I chose this method because that's what my mom used and she told me where to get the information and find an instructor. I like using 3 signs to cross-check where I am in my cycle. I don't like some of the confusing rules, which is what is leading me to look at a different method for postpartum.
  • Has charting helped you to understand your overall health?
Absolutely! Learning the effects that stress, travel, caffeine, lack of sleep, and other factors had on my cycle really gave me an insight into my overall health.
  • Did you stop using this method? If so, why?
I stopped after I got pregnant, and it's been a nice little break from charting!
