- Tell us a little about yourself.Wife and stay-at-home mother, hobby farmer, I enjoy crafting and podcasts
- What effects has fertility awareness had on your relationship?I feel like it has made our sex life better, my husband is not a fan. He is not a practicing Catholic and has no reason to use NFP except for me refusing any other method. He tolerates it for my sake, which means I do all the work and tell him no a lot. In a way it has strengthened our relationship because I see the sacrifice he is willing to make for me which is amazing. It's tough but definitely worth it.
- How did you find your instructor?A web search led me to Feminine Genius Ministries, I chose the instructor who charged the least ($100) for a web class with a year of follow-ups because I was post-partum and had just weaned. I have emailed her many times and been extremely grateful for her help!
- Describe your daily charting routine.I do the version of MM with LH strips and use a tempdrop for secondary confirmation of ovulation and also watch my mucus (not for real charting, just for my own curiosity). I've been charting for 13 cycles now, and have been extremely regular so my instructor felt comfortable with the LH version of MM. It is the protocol I follow, the temps and mucus are just secondary because I like charting them. I LOVE fertility awareness, I think learning about and seeing my body change in real time is fascinating.
- What made you choose this method?I like that MM has a clear and objective indicator of ovulation. It makes sense to me and to my husband who had doubts about NFP. I think it also gives the most available days and has a very high percentage of success for TTA which is what we wanted. Of course the cost is the drawback for MM but since I test with LH strips it's not as bad as with the monitor and all that.
